1070 graphics card

PostThu Feb 23, 2017 2:24 pm

Was wondering if there is really a difference between some of the 1070's (plus new egg is giving out For honor or Ghost recon with purchase).

Noticed that for some its only a marginal difference between core clock and boost clock ( I won't be doing any sort of overclocking anyway).

Any thoughts?

If you are asking about the various sub brands (like EVGA or Zotac) the actual differences between cards is pretty minor and just about any of them will give a good result. It just comes down to which card comes from a vendor you trust.

That makes sense, I was comparing some ~380 versus 400+ and the differences were marginal (especially compared to my current 660 ti any of them is waaaaay better).

There are some differences in terms of cooling though, which could impact performance, longevity of the card, or other things like noise levels. For example, the MSI 1070 I have has "TWIN FROZR VI" cooling which boasts a 20% reduction in heat compared to its predecessor. As well as having the fans turn off completely in <60 degrees Celsius conditions, which I absolutely love because my rig is dead quiet most of the time.

As well there are some that are distinctly made for water cooling your GPU if you plan on doing that. So make sure you keep that in mind too.
